15 Adult Bible Verse Coloring Pages On Forgiveness

Do you like to color? This activity has become quite popular with adults. It is no longer just for children.

If you are a visual or kinesthetic learner, adding Bible verses to personal use coloring sheets gives you a perfect learning activity while stimulating both the right and left brain.

So let’s take a journey into Scripture and enjoy coloring pages on forgiveness.

Our need of forgiveness

The Bible is clear that mankind is sinful and separated from God. Without Jesus, we can’t even approach God. Here is what Scripture says.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 NLT

“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.  ‘ ” John 14:6 NLT

So we have coloring pages on forgiveness highlighting our need.

What did Jesus say about forgiveness?

“And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” Luke 23:34 ESV

“And forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us..” Matthew 6:12 NLT

“I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” Matthew 5:44

“And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark 11:25 ESV

So we have coloring pages on forgiveness highlighting the very words of Jesus when He was here on earth.

What did other writers of the Bible say about forgiveness?

“But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” 1 John 1:9 NLT

“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7 ESV

“Never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”  Romans 12:19 ESV

“If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink,” Proverbs 25:21

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32

So we have coloring pages on forgiveness highlighting the words of other writers of the Bible.

Visual representations of forgiveness

“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.” Isaiah 64:6 ESV

Try as we may to be good, none of it is good enough. The Bible describes it as dirty laundry. Yuk.

The Bible teaches that white is the color of forgiveness, contrary to blue, as suggested by Eastern spiritual practices.

“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.” Isaiah 1:8 NLT

This is one of the many Bible lessons on forgiveness. Our sins caused the death of Jesus, and in exchange, we are made clean.

Traditionally, a white dove represents forgiveness. It also represents peace, which is ours when our relationship with God is restored through forgiveness. (1)

A cross is the second symbol. Sometimes people ask, “Why is the cross a symbol of forgiveness?” For those who know Jesus, that might seem like an odd question. But many people truly don’t know the answer.

The cross represents the greatest act of forgiveness extended to any human. We love Jesus because He first loved us and gave His life for the forgiveness of our sins. (2)

Here are the coloring pages on forgiveness that highlight the symbols of this amazing gift from God.

A Prayer for forgiveness

Heavenly father,

Help me to remember that I have been forgiven much. Thank you for offering that same forgiveness to those who hurt or offended me. Help me to realize that if they knew you like I do, they would not be wounding those around them. As you said, Lord, “Father forgive them,” and I will let you work things out.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
